After taking the reins of DC Studios with Peter Safran, James Gunn began developmenta new film about one of the most iconic superheroes ever created: Superman. Behind the director Guardians of the Galaxy he will thus offer us his version of Clark Kent’s story, adapting a screenplay he wrote.
Having decided to give a new actor a chance for the role of Superman rather than recall Henry Cavill, the director and screenwriter chose to trust David Corenswet. The roles of Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, two equally cult characters from the DC universe, were entrusted to Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult. He also shared the first official photo feature film, projection the new logo for Clark Kent’s costume. The director also revealed it a change of title. While the film was initially called Superman: Legacy, now it is called very soberly SUPERMAN.
The version of the new Superman logo is based on thatan alternate version of the hero worn in the comic series The Kingdom come, by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, although the black part is here replaced by yellow. It remains to be seen whether this indicates that Gunn took inspiration from this comic series for his story, or if he simply borrowed the costume logo.
