The Raven ready to go
The film The Ravendirected by Rupert Sanders and which will attempt to revive the legend of Eric Draven after the 1994 film, is revealed in a first trailer, ahead of its theatrical release scheduled for June 5, 2024. If this new film is a new adaptation of the comic book series and also follows the same scenario as Alex Proyas’ film, it obviously looks very different from the latter in these spectacular new images (trailer at the top of the article).
A critical performance for Bill Skarsgård?
Because of this The Raven, Bill Skarsgård replaces several actors who have appeared in the role of this rather unusual superhero, returned from the dead thanks to the supernatural intervention of a crow to avenge the murder of his girlfriend and his own death. And he looks particularly violent, with these images from the trailer bloody revenge.
In addition to his iconic interpreter Brandon Lee, who tragically passed away during the filming of the first film The Raven, it was Vincent Perez in 1996, Eric Mabius in 2000 and Edward Furlong in 2005 who also played a version of the character in feature films. On television, Mark Dacascos played the role of Eric Draven for 22 episodes of the series. The Raven broadcast between 1998 and 1999.
It is above all to that of Brandon Lee that Bill Skarsgård’s performance will be compared. The Swedish actor is surrounded in the cast by FKA Twigs, Danny Huston, Laura Birn, Sami Bouajila, Isabella Wei and David Bowles. The Raven arouses curiosity, but not so much on the part of Alex Proyas who recently made fun of the appearance of the characters, discovered in the first images. Suffice it to say that between public expectations and this dig from the director of the 1994 cult film, the pressure is on Bill Skarsgård.
