Premiere of “Lisa”, preview of the unreleased album by Gustavo Cerati

Gustave Cerati continue to surprise. Yes, although this year marks the eighth anniversary of his death, his music is more alive than ever. And a good example is the symphonic version of “Lisa”, one of the songs he recorded during his historic concert at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, February 9, 2002.

“Lisa”, by the way, This is the first advance of an unreleased album precisely titled “14 Symphonic Episodes / Live / National Auditorium / Mexico City / February 2002”, which will see the light of day, complete, next August.

It is also the recording of the performance with which the Argentinian artist began the historic presentation tour of the then brand new album “11 symphonic episodes” (released in 2001), which led him through the stages of six venues (eight shows) from some of the main cities in Latin America.

As its title suggests, the new album will add three new tracks/episodes not included in the original project’s repertoire, one of which is precisely “Lisa (Symphonic Live)”.

The classics of Soda Stereo and Gustavo’s burgeoning solo career, at the time, showing all his vocal talent in the style of a velvety crooner, accompanied by the Camerata de las Américas orchestra, with arrangements and direction by Alejandro Teran. The spirit of this tour was the risky artistic proposal that involved the orchestral format, which was not very common then for the repertoire of a popular rock musician, even less as we hear it here: only with his voice, without the base of a band or electric instruments.

But in addition to the audio recorded 20 years ago in the emblematic place of the Mexican Federal District, new audiovisual content has also been released, which adds value to the work: an extended reality video specially designed to accompany the piece in a different way. Depending on the device on which it is viewed, it offers the user a different immersive experience: from a mobile, it is AR (augmented reality); from a computer, a 360º video; and with Oculus glasses, it’s VR (virtual reality).

For the realization of this XR video, Unreal Engine technology was used, with a technique in which many parts were created, modeled and painted inside virtual reality helmets. The scenarios that have been developed there have a close link with the imagination of the song: in the case of “Lisa”, a dreamlike journey through the underwater world offered by the lyrics. Even several of the elements that we find animated in the video belong to Gustavo’s personal life.
