Famous for starring in Hereditary and The Sixth Sense, the actress made an unusual statement about horror films that ended up marking her career
Tony Colletteactress acclaimed for starring in some modern horror works, such as Hereditary (2018) and The Sixth Sense (1999), surprised fans by confessing that she doesn’t like films of the genre, something unusual, as she was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in the 2018 film.
In an interview with Tom Powerfor the podcast CBC, Collette stated that he has not made many films of the genre, but that he still avoids watching them. “I haven’t done that many — just a handful — and I don’t like watching them. But acting in them is very different.”
Collette He also remembered that he didn’t even realize he was doing something terrible when he ran The Sixth Sense (1999) and only realized its frightening tone when he passed by a small editing island set up on the film set. “The way it was being filmed, I thought, ‘Oh my God, I think this is a horror movie!‘”, he recalled with a laugh.
The actress also argued that the horror films in which she starred are, at heart, deep dramas with a supernatural touch. “The horror films I’ve made are actually beautiful stories about pain and family disconnection. Hereditary is devastating in that sense. The horror element only pushes the audience a little further”, he explained.
