Imagine Entertainment Teams with Taiwan TAICCA Content Development Lab

The company announced on Tuesday that it will partner with TAICCA (Taiwan Creative Content Agency) and Taipei-based studio Sixty Percent Productions to create a new program for Emerge to support Taiwanese writers, directors and producers.

TAICCA said it launched Emerge to enable Taiwanese creators to maximize their talent for the challenges of a competitive global market that has morphed into streaming platforms due to growing demand for premium Asian stories. For its inaugural launch, the program will select five projects to undergo an intensive 20-week development program under the supervision of Imagine Entertainment and Sixty Percent Productions, with experienced global television producers, showers and executives as guest speakers. In addition to developing high-quality, production-ready content, the program seeks to help turn participating talent into showers.

“We believe that creative collaboration can develop when we share and learn from each other. It is in this spirit that we are excited to partner with TAICCA and Sixty Percent Productions on Emerge,” said Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, CEO of Imagine Entertainment, in a joint statement. “We look forward to working with show attendees to help them develop their stories for the local and global market.”

On Tuesday, TAICCA began accepting applications (deadline July 31, 2022) for writers and their original Chinese-language television projects to participate in the inaugural session of Emerge.

“The current state of the international content market has intensified competition between content produced in all countries,” added TAICCA Executive Director Izero Lim. “Therefore, if the Taiwanese film and television industry can increase the production of high-quality original content, it can increase its chances of success in commercial markets. “Chinese original content has great potential to reach audiences and subscribers around the world, so the industry’s focus now is on creating high-quality Chinese content that resonates with global markets.”
