James Bond, Kraven and “fed up”: Aaron Talor-Jonhson takes stock

The Year of Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is according to British media the big favorite to take on the role of James Bond. Playing the famous character invented by Ian Fleming in the cinema is not a role like any other. Indeed, becoming James Bond is equivalent to becoming a global icon and never truly return from that role. For better or for worse, all the interpreters of Agent 007 so far have demonstrated the extraordinary dedication required for a role that generally relegates all the other lines of a filmography to the background.

The 33-year-old British actor’s announcement in the role of James Bond would be imminent. An announcement that he will not make himself, or at least not alone, since everything concerns the saga 007 is orchestrated with secrecy and rigor by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. And right now, if he is the object of all the discussions regarding this highly anticipated casting after Daniel Craig’s farewell, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is particularly keen calm things down.

The actor practices “neither yes nor no”

In a large portrait dedicated to him Rolling Stone UKjournalist Christina Newland did not shy away from the Bond topic, but clashed with an Aaron Taylor-Johnson who brought out his “poker face” and declared:

I can only talk here about what I will show and discuss. That is “The Fall Guy”, “Nosferatu” and “Kraven the Hunter”. I’m here to promote them.

The actor intervenes, but then the journalist writes, followed by a long silence which she considers more “ironic and serious“, while telling him that he knows he obviously won’t spoil anything about this interview…

We might wonder about the fact that of these three films, Aaron Taylor-Johnson only plays the lead role Kraven the Hunter. She actually has a secondary role in The boy of autumn AND Nosferatu, worn respectively by Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, Bill Skarsgård and Lily-Rose Depp. An exciting program for sure, but not to the point of dedicating time only to these projects. cover story from the prestigious British magazine. This therefore suggests that Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s year 2024 has in store another surprise

“We were all fed up”

It’s also about Kraven the Hunter that the actor was more talkative. Aware that the superhero genre and its franchises are in full swing, he explained why he accepted this rolejudging it different.

I think there’s something unique about this character and something consistent. We’re all tired of seeing certain studio films, a certain form of pop culture… where the studios mass-produce things that dilute the desire to go to the cinema. I wouldn’t have accepted this role if I didn’t feel like there was really something to create with this character.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson then explains:

Being involved in a Sony/Marvel film is a unique challenge. On the one hand there is the story, the character, the role. And on the other hand there is also the relationship with the studios and a franchise – or several possible franchises, but let’s not give too much away. They’re betting on me and it’s very flattering. But you have to please the studios, please the audience and do what is worthy for you as an actor. Which I find very stimulating.
