The Penguin: Colin Farrell promises an “incredibly violent” and “very dark” series.

Colin Farrell will be back soon The Penguin

At the beginning of March, when we learned this, there was great disappointment Batman 2 was rejected. Initially scheduled for October 2025, the film will only be released in theaters in 2026. There are therefore still two years to wait before seeing the Dark Knight again. But to compensate a little, the audience will at least be able to find the character of Oswald Cobblepot in the series The Penguin.

Awesome in The Batman, Colin Farrell has agreed to reprise the role of Bruce Wayne’s famous enemy for at least one season. Recently, the show was revealed with a trailer in which the actor looks terrifying. The Penguin will arrive later this year, in the fall, but the actor has already done some promotion. He was during an interview given to MovieZine (video at the end of the article) that Colin Farrell talked about his experience on set of the Max series (formerly HBO Max, which will soon arrive in France). And according to him we should expect something very dark.

“A truly twisting eight hours”

The actor also said that his experience working on The Penguin was “long but wonderful“, before adding about the atmosphere of the series:

What I can tell you is that it is very dark. It’s very heavy. Which doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. I had a lot of fun making the series. But it’s incredibly violent.

Colin Farrell then added that the series would tell “a man’s rise to what he has always dreamed of, a certain power and social status“. In fact, after the death of Carmine Falcone in The Batmanwhich he directed the criminal underworld of Gotham, Oswald will do anything to recover his empire. Except that other people will also try to take the power and the series The Penguin will thus show the rise of the antagonist upwards. A journey that, on paper, may recall a character like Tony Montana, even if, in the trailer, it is rather like that Tony Soprano This comes to mind.

In any case, Colin Farrell promises us a program of “a truly twisting eight hoursWhich should cause a stir around The Penguin.
