Border Line hits theaters May 1st

More than a year after its presentation at the Polar Festival in Reims and then at the Premiers Plans Festival in Angers, the Spanish thriller Borderline finally arrives in our theaters on May 1st.

Directed by Juan Sebastián Vásquez and Alejandro Rojas, for whom this is their first feature film, this film immerses us in the nightmare that a couple is about to experience who decides to leave Spain to settle in the United States.

We follow Diego, a Venezuelan urban planner (played by Alberto Ammann) and Elena, a dancer from Barcelona (played by Bruna Cusí) as they take off from El Prat airport to reach Newark airport in the United States. -United, before reaching their final destination, Miami.

A closed door of formidable efficiency

But as soon as they arrive on American soil, they are taken to immigration, where Border Patrol agents interrogate them. psychologically very destabilizing. Are they lying and have something to hide? To themselves? To the spectators? Is it just zeal on the part of American police officers?

All these questions arouse the interest of this breathtaking closed session, lasting just 74 minutes, in which we are immersed in this infernal vortex that constitutes the interrogation room. This device is reminiscent of the Netflix series Criminal, or even movies The one guilty or course Prison.

The arrival of Borderline in French cinemas on May 1st is excellent news for thriller fans. The undertaking is all the greater as it is the first film from this pair of directors, who we can’t wait to see in other bigger projects.
