A perfect world : by the great Clint Eastwood
After the success ofRuthless (1992), awarded the Oscar for best film and best director, Clint Eastwood immediately followed with the beautiful A perfect world (1993). Written by John Lee Hancock, the film was initially directed by Steven Spielberg. But finally busy Jurassic Park (1993), the project fell to the interpreter of Inspector Harry. In it, the director also gives himself a role, that of Texas Ranger Red Garnett. The main role goes to Kevin Costner who here embodies a complex character with gray areas.
That of Robert “Butch” Haynes, an inmate who, in 1963, escaped from the Huntsville prison in Texas together with Terry Pugh (Keith Szarabajka). During the race, the two decide kidnap a boy named Phillip. Soon a conflict breaks out between Butch and Terry, and the former finally finds himself alone with the child. During their journey, the fugitive and Phillip become friends while the police intensely pursue him, thinking that the boy is in danger.

With A perfect worldClint Eastwood delivers yet another great drama, captivating and moving. All the interest comes from the director’s ability to make us connect with the criminal Butch. For this reason, the presence of Kevin Costner is fundamental as the actor offers a performance full of nuances.
The best film of 1993
Upon his exit, A perfect world it was well received, both by the press and the public, and is still considered a notable work. About the aggregator Rotten tomatoes, the film thus obtained 78% positive opinions from the press and 84% from the public. Furthermore, in 1993, the prestigious magazine The cinema notebooks he had placed it ranked first in his top 10 of the year.
