Martin Scorsese created the event during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival with The Flower Moon Assassins, an ambitious crime drama starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone. The film was then released in theaters (18 October in France) before entering the catalog of Apple TV+, which produced the feature film. She would also have chosen Jennifer Lawrence to play Ava Gardner, Sinatra’s second wife.

Frank Sinatra: A biopic that’s dated, but attracts studios

On paper, this project may make your mouth water. Especially because Martin Scorsese has been thinking about it for some time. Already, in 2009, the director has been associated with this biopic. But like then, Variety specifies that the film could encounter some difficulties given that Tina Sinatra, the singer’s daughter, has control over her father’s inheritance rights, and reportedly still hasn’t”he gave his blessing for the film“.

An important detail that will therefore have to be resolved before embarking on the biopic. Martin Scorsese, however, is not a newbie and if he is also associated with the two superstars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, it is to be hoped that he will find an agreement with Tina Sinatra. Furthermore, the American media say so several studies would already be interested in accompanying Martin Scorsese in this new film, included Sony Pictures who would be the favorite to distribute the feature film.

We still don’t know from what angle Martin Scorsese would like to treat Frank Sinatra’s life. But given the presence of Ava Gardner, the focus should be on the period of their marriage (1951 to 1957). The project is still in its early stages.
