Jujutsu Kaisen arrives on Netflix
As for anime, the specialized platforms ADN and Crunchyroll excel. Both have impressive catalogs that continue to grow. But sometimes it happens that some programs join another more general platform like Netflix. This was the case with the brilliant animated series GTO. And again, soon, with the arrival of Jujutsu Kaisenwhich will be available on the red logo streaming service from May 1st.

Originally, Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga created by Gege Akutami and published since 2018. An anime adaptation was released two years later, allowing the work to gain popularity. The proof is that the manga sold more than 70 million copies in 2022while the anime received the Anime of the Year award from Crunchyroll in 2021.

The story of Jujutsu Kaisen follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who sees his life turned upside down when he comes into contact with a cursed object that attracts creatures called “plagues”. While facing one of these creatures, Yuji sees a young exorcist named Megumi intervene. Except that the danger remains, and Yuji has the “bad” idea to swallow the cursed object which turns out to be the finger of a powerful demon, Ryomen Sukuna. From there, Yuji will become The Ryomen container who has only one desire, to regain control of this body to dominate the world. The best solution to avoid this would be to kill Yuji. But Gojo, a powerful exorcist, decides to spare him and train him to become an exorcist too.
Two seasons and a movie
It does not take much time Jujutsu Kaisen getting excited about Yuji’s journey. A nice guy who, certainly, follows the usual journey of the heroes of this type of manga. However, the characters that accompany it are no different. Be it the dark Megumi or the charismatic Gojo, without forgetting the brilliant Nobora. And for action fans, the series’ animation is one of its great qualities with visually impressive, explosive and well-paced sequences.
While the manga currently consists of 26 volumes, the animated series currently spans more than 26 volumes two complete seasons. Added to this is an animated film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which will also be available on Netflix on May 1 and serves as a prequel focusing on another teenager, Yuta Okkotsu. Finally, a third season is eagerly awaited by fans. But this is not expected to happen for many months.
