Tapie crowned best foreign series at the TV Baftas
The French Netflix series Tapie was crowned best foreign series last night at the prestigious Bafta television ceremony held in London. Baptized Class act abroad, won this award ahead of world-famous series such as The last of us, Succession OR The bear. A victory that confirms the excellent reception given abroad to the Netflix series, which had established themselves in the Top 10 worldwideas soon as it goes online.
Starring Laurent Lafitte as the businessman, the seven-episode miniseries takes place over several years and follows the rise and fall of this controversial but legendary figure in our country.
The series explores various aspects of his life, his achievements in business to his legal problems, through his time in politics and his adventures in the world of sport, notably as president of Olympique de Marseille. However, he takes great liberties with reality, and in particular with his relationship with his wife Dominique, played on screen by Joséphine Japy.
Significant scenes
The miniseries created by Tristan Séguéla contains significant scenes from the life and career of Bernard Tapie. There is obviously Olympique de Marseille’s victory in the 1993 Champions League final, but also his conviction in the context of the VA-OM corruption case through a intense sequence in which Bernard Tapie faces a prosecutor.
The latter was unanimously praised for the precision of the writing and for the performance of its interpreters, almost behind closed doors, which led to the conviction of Bernard Tapie. However, this is a completely fictitious hypothesis, as the real prosecutor of the case, Eric de Montgolfier, confided.
