The 3-Body Problem: The Netflix Puzzle
Series The 3-body problem, available on Netflix from March 21, is an ambitious adaptation of the science fiction trilogy written by Liu Cixin. It immerses viewers in a complex and captivating story that spans time and space.
The plot begins in 1960s China, where a young astrophysicist, Ye Wenjie, traumatized by the events of the Cultural Revolution, makes a courageous decision which will shock all humanity. This choice will have important repercussions in time and space.
Decades later, a group of brilliant scientists are confronted with inexplicable phenomena: the laws of nature seem to disintegrate before their eyes. This tight-knit group prepares to face the greatest threat humanity has ever known: an extraterrestrial civilizationthe Trisolarians (also called San-ti), who live in an unstable star system with three suns, heading towards Earth.
The first season of the series The three-body problem with a budget of 200 million dollars, remained for many weeks in the Top 10 of the most watched series on the platform in the world. And the numbers are obviously very good since Netflix just made the start of the second season official.
What to expect from this season 2?
As a reminder, the first season of the series The 3-body problem ended with the failure of the first interception mission of the San-ti ships, which were about 400 years from Earth, despite the efforts of astrophysicist Jin Cheng. Everything remains for scientists to do who do not intend to give up in the face of the threat of the arrival of extraterrestrials. The second season will then focus on telling their new plan to intercept the San-ti ships before it’s too late.
A few months ago, the creators of the series (already at the helm of game of Thrones), they had confided that they already had great ideas for a potential season 2, and that it would be “even better than the first” thanks above all to a scene, which they compared to that of the Red Wedding of Game of Thrones. The second season is also expected to be more ambitious and will follow the events of Liu Cixin’s second novel.
No release date has yet been announced by Netflix.
