Steven Spielberg is preparing his next film
After the tremendous emotion of The Fabelmans, a brilliant autobiographical story published in 2022, Steven Spielberg has no intention of hanging up. He still has good years ahead of him, as demonstrated by his colleagues Martin Scorsese, Michael Mann, Ridley Scott and recently Francis Ford Coppola with Megalopolis, which, more than 80 years old, continues to function. And if Steven Spielberg’s next film doesn’t yet have a known story, title or cast, at least it already does a release date.

In fact, for the moment, it is about May 15, 2026 in American cinemas – and therefore the May 13th in France, that Universal Pictures has planned the release of the director’s new film Jurassic Park AND War of the Worlds. A film whose screenwriter we also know, and the general theme.
Extraterrestrial passion
AS Variety announced in April 2024, the next film will be a “UFO” film, with a script written by his longtime collaborator, successful screenwriter David Koepp – who notably wrote the screenplay War of the Worlds. Extraterrestrial life and his adventures is a theme that fascinates Steven Spielberg. He has already dedicated three films to him, three huge successes. Encounters of the third kind in 1977, ET, the extraterrestrial in 1982 and War of the Worlds in 2005.
Suffice it to say that Steven Spielberg knows the material very well, and this new film promises to be an event. It also seems that the announcement of this release relegates to the background a film project that Steven Spielberg was developing with Bradley Cooper: his version of the cult film Bullit. This one, announced to be in the works in February 2022 and expected at Warner Bros., has not been the subject of a recent update.
