Travis Barker updates fans on his health journey in light of his recent hospitalization.
The Blink-182 drummer, who married reality star Kourtney Kardashian in May, shared on his Instagram Stories on Saturday that a procedure to remove a small polyp on Monday had led to “life-threatening pancreatitis”. In her message, she said she was in the hospital after the procedure but is feeling much better.
“I went in for my endoscopy on Monday and felt great,” wrote Barker, 46. “But after dinner I was in terrible pain and I’ve been in the hospital ever since. During the endoscopy, I removed a very small polyp in a very sensitive area that is usually handled by specialists, which unfortunately damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube. This led to life-threatening pancreatitis.
He concluded: “I am very grateful that with the intensive care I am now much better.”
Pancreatitis is a sudden inflammation of the pancreas, which in mild cases can resolve with rest and treatment within a week. Endoscopy involves inserting a tube down the throat to examine the digestive system.
Kardashian also shared messages on her Instagram Stories on Saturday about the ordeal, calling it a “scary and emotional week” after the couple went “together for a routine endoscopy”.
She continued in part: “I am so grateful to God for healing my husband, for all your prayers for him and for us, love and support. I am very excited and grateful. “
