The series was broadcast last year on the Apple TV+ platform Drops of Godlive action adaptation of the famous manga, can since then be discovered on France 2 May 27, 2024, with three episodes Monday night. The first three episodes convinced, attracting more than 14% of viewers that evening. The story of this series is as follows.

While the world of wine mourns the famous winemaker Alexandre Léger, his daughter Camille, with whom he had not had contact for many years, is summoned by her father’s notary in Tokyo and learns that she will inherit his house and his extraordinary collection of wines, in condition of beating Tomine Issei, winemaker and “spiritual son” of Alexandre Léger, in a three-part event. The problem is that Camille never drinks alcohol and, in particular, never wine, due to an incident that occurred during her childhood, while her father was teaching her to develop her nose and to recognize grape varieties, vintages and terroir…

The lead actress drunk… on grape juice

The actress Fleur Geffrier plays Camille. An important change compared to the manga, where the main character is a young man. She told her experience in an interview with TV 7 days. And in particular he made it clear that he had exaggerated with a certain drink… While the series explores the world of oenology and therefore of wines, his character smells and tastes many of them. Obviously it was often not real wine.

(The best wine we drank during filming) was a 1970s Châteauneuf-du-Pape but, to be honest, I have to point out that most of the time it was grape juice in our glasses. I can’t drink it anymore! I’m disgusted!

The wine we used on set, especially for the tasting scenes so that the image looked realistic in the glasses, was very simple.

If the actress was “disgusted” by the liters of grape juice she ingested for the series, it was worth it. Drops of God it is in fact a huge international success, with a critical rating of 4.1/5 and a viewership rating of 4/5 on Allociné and rare scores on Rotten tomatoeswith a critical evaluation of 100% and a viewership rating of 93%.
