As Monica would say, it’s almost “the end of an era”. After several years spent on Netflix France, the cult series Friends will leave the platform on July 1st. We had already put forward this hypothesis last month and Netflix confirmed it on the profile of the series, noting that the last day to watch it was June 30.
French subscribers will therefore have to say goodbye to this cult series that has accompanied them on the platform for years. This decision makes a mark The end of an era for the many fans who have found in the series an inexhaustible source of comfort and nostalgia.
Since its addition to the Netflix catalog, Friends it was one of the most watched series, attracting both new viewers and long-time loyalists. This series is often described as “comfort TV” or “comfort TV”, offering a warm, familiar haven thanks to its 10 seasons and 236 episodes.
The evenings spent following the misadventures of Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler and Joey were a real emotional lifeline for many.
See you on Max on July 1st
The departure of Friends of Netflix France coincides with the launch of the streaming platform Max in France on June 11th. Max, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, holds the broadcast rights to the cult series.
This move is part of a larger strategy to centralize Warner Bros. content on its platform. The special reunion episode Friends it had also aired on Max in the US, already signaling a future trend.
