Discover behind the scenes of The Doors with never-before-told stories from drummer John Densmore, including details about Jim Morrison
Next Wednesday, June 19th, the publisher Belas Letras launches the unpublished autobiography of the drummer The Doors, John Densmore. “Riders on the Storm: My Life with Jim Morrison and the Doors” mixes the memories of Densmore with the history of the iconic rock band. The book explores John’s musical journey, his experiences in the ’60s, and his complicated relationship with Jim Morrison and the band. Densmore describes how he had to take on many responsibilities in the group due to the group’s unpredictable and self-destructive behavior. Morrisonwhich included pranks, confrontations with police and drug and alcohol abuse.
The publisher prepared two editions for the book: a collector’s edition, with a hardcover and exclusive items such as a yellow acrylic keychain, a round sticker and a door notice The Doorsand a more accessible paperback version.
In “Riders on the Storm”John Densmore narrates his career as a musician, from his passion for jazz to his entry into The Doors. He recalls his relationship with Jim Morrison, a rock poet turned self-destructive, prankster star. The book details episodes such as the arrest of Morrison on stage, his parties in the studio, and the time he Morrison was taken unconscious to a concert in Amsterdam. Densmore also reveals behind the scenes of the band’s recordings, including a visit from George Harrison while recording “The Soft Parade” and how he received the news of his death Morrison.
“Riders on the Storm: My Life with Jim Morrison and the Doors” will be available on the publisher’s website and in partner stores such as Travessa, Livrarias Curitiba, Martins Fontes, Livraria da Vila and Amazonin addition to arriving in bookstores from June 25th.
