Disney Names Kristen Finn EVP Content Curator for Group International

Disney has promoted Kristen Finn to the newly created role of evp content creation for the company’s international group.

The executive was most recently executive vice president of content distribution strategy and development in Disney’s direct-to-consumer division on the platform distribution team. In his new role, Finn will lead content strategy for Disney’s four international regions: EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Latin America, Asia Pacific and India, and will assess content needs for Disney+, Disney+ Hotstar, Star and Star+. these regions.

Finney will report to Rebecca Campbell, President of Disney’s International Content and Operations Group. “Kristen has a proven track record of successful content strategies. That experience, combined with his expert skill in building and leading innovative teams, makes him an excellent candidate for this important new role,” Campbell said in a statement Wednesday.

“IC&O’s regional teams are building a truly impressive roster of engaging and entertaining content, and I’m looking forward to the strategic opportunities as we aggressively expand these local offerings around the world,” added Feeney.

Finney’s promotion comes months after Disney began optimizing its international content business by creating a single division led by Campbell, who reports to Disney CEO Bob Chapek. While the international market and Indian subscribers in particular have helped to increase the company’s overall subscriber base, the recent loss of cricket broadcasting rights could help to slow growth. As a result, some analysts expect Disney to lower its goal of reaching more than 230 million subscribers by 2024.
