In a comment on TikTok, Metallica spoke about the band’s new fans who arrived after ‘Master of Puppets’ appeared on Stranger Things

Among the most emotional moments of the last episode of the fourth season of Stranger Things(2016) is when Eddie (Joseph Quinn) play “Master of Puppets,” of Metallica, in the Upside Down. The moment brought the song back to the charts and has attracted new fans for the band.

On social media, however, some netizens are being criticized for “discovering” the Metallica only because of Stranger Things. But the group’s official account responded to “fan tax” on TikTok, stating:

“For your information: everyone is welcome to the Metallica Family. Whether you’ve been a fan for 40 hours or 40 years, we all share a connection through music. We all start from scratch at some point.” (via Young nerd)

In addition, the moment also received praise from the band, who published the scene on Instagram and praised the production of the series. “The way the brothers duffer embed any music in Stranger Things has always been top notch so we were beyond excited to see ‘Master of Puppets’ in the series, even more so for having such a pivotal scene,” they wrote.

The group added: “We were all excited to see the final result and when we saw it we were totally blown away… it’s so well done, so much so that some people were able to guess the song just by seeing the hands of Joseph Quinn on guitar. How crazy is that?”
