The MCU has evolved significantly since then Avengers: Endgame (2019), in which the heroes face Thanos in an epic battle to save the universe. According to information collected in early June by Expiration, Avengers 5whose release is still scheduled for the end of April 2026, will include at least 60 characters from the MCU. This information seems to be confirmed, as Benedict Cumberbatch said during an interview released as part of the promotion of his Netflix series Eric a few days ago that he would indeed return as the sorcerer and that filming would begin next year. He confided that he was “looking forward to making the next Avengers next year” and that he had a “pretty nice relationship with Marvel.”

Is the multiverse still at the center of the plot?

Stephen Strange’s ability to open portals and navigate through different dimensions will undoubtedly be an important asset in this new work in the saga Avengers. The introduction of the multiverse into the MCU opens the door to unexpected encounters and new collaborations to the delight of fans. It is also possible that characters like Deadpool, who now belong to Disney, and whose next adventure Deadpool and Wolverine will be released next July, they will be able to join the Avengers thanks to devices such as the Court of Anachronistic Variations, already seen in the series Loki.

Although the presence of many heroes is confirmed, several questions remain unanswered. The direction of the film has not yet been officially assigned, although Shawn Levy is at the top of the list take the helm again.
