Now the brothers duffer discussed the reason for Max be chosen as the fourth victim of vecnaand they made that decision very early on during the creative process of the production’s fourth season.

Is Vecna inspired by Doctor Manhattan? understand theory
vecnaalso known as Henry Creelis the main villain of the first volume of the fourth season of Stranger Things. Theory of Screen Rant indicates possible inspiration of the character in Doctor Manhattan – in watchmen.
The first similarity is in the visions of creel, always related to a watch, in addition to the strange obsession with time. In watchmen, the passage of time is linked to Manhattan for its origin story. The character left his wristwatch behind the testing chamber in an experiment, and when trying to pick it up, he got stuck.
Episode 7 of the fourth season brings the origin of vecnawith some similarities to the history of the Doctor. In the movie watchmen(2009), from Zack Snyderthe flashback with character transformation even has the same soundtrack used in Stranger Things.
The motivation of the characters is also similar. While Doctor Manhattan claims to be trapped in time – and carries a different perception from other humans -, vecna is stuck in the time of the Upside Down.
With so many parallels, it wouldn’t be surprising if Henry had the same fate as the DC character in volume 2 of the penultimate season of Stranger Things– including a union between the USSR and the United States to defeat him, as the Cold War is present in both productions.
