Alexandre Dumas’s cinematic universe is developing
“One for all, all for one”… and “never two without three”! After the releases and successes in 2023 of The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan AND The Three Musketeers: Milady (3.3 million and 2.5 million viewers in France), the universe of new adaptations of Alexandre Dumas’ works expands in 2024 with The Count of Monte Cristo. And this new ambitious swashbuckling film, directed by Pierre Niney in the role of Edmond Dantès and in theaters since June 28also promises to be a success.

In fact Dimitri Rassam, producer of the three films, interviewed by France Info this Sunday 30 Junestated that the cinematic release of The Count of Monte Cristo has already produced “more than 300,000 registrations in two days“. A performance that makes Dimitri Rassam and the film crews “very happy“.
A new movie The Three Musketeers
This isn’t really a surprise, because the end of The Three Musketeers: Milady did not conclude the story of the terrible Milady de Winter and the famous musketeers. In fact, the ending of the film was very open and strongly suggested that their common history and their revenge would continue.
In this same interview, Dimitri Rassam confirmed that a third part of The Three Musketeers was indeed in preparation, stating: “we’re working on it“. Without going into too much detail, the producer indicated that he found the novel Twenty years laterpublished in 1845 and followed by The Three Musketeers“extraordinary“. In this we discover much more about Raoul, the son of Athos (Vincent Cassel) and Mordaunt, that of Milady (Eva Green). Logically, this novel should be the basis of this new film, which Dimitri Rassam hopes will come out”by 2027“.
