Claustrophobia and white sharks
Here’s a genre for which the public’s appetite remains devouring: the movie about sharks. After Under the SeineXavier Gens’ Netflix blockbuster, a new movie with very dangerous sharks shows the tip of its fin in a very attractive trailer (video at the top of the article): The Last Breath.
With Jaws in 1976Steven Spielberg opened this particular cinema with an unsurpassed film. It is therefore up to the screenwriters and directors to find how to do things differently, if they cannot do better. The tendency is therefore to accumulate dangers and difficulties for movie characters. The best example, if we leave aside the flying sharks and stay in a more or less realistic environment, 47 meters belowwhich combined the danger of aggressive sharks with the risk of suffocation for two sisters locked in a cage 47 meters deep.
The Last Breath takes this idea with a group of divers, but also traps them in the wreck of a World War II ship. Sharks, asphyxiation and an underwater labyrinth from which they must escape, the program is therefore very tough.
A group of old college friends reunite for a scuba diving trip to the Caribbean to explore the wreck of a World War II battleship and find themselves trapped there, surrounded by great white sharks…
Julian Sands’s latest film
Directed by the Swedish director Joachim Hedén who has distinguished himself Breaking surfacewhere two diving sisters found themselves trapped by a landslide, The Last Breath It then combines different anxieties to generate the most perfect terror possible.
The cast also includes Jack Parr and Kim Spearman Julian SandsThe famous English actor, who died in January 2023 during an excursion in California, plays his last role here, as a sponsor of the exploration of the wreck.
I waited for the July 26, 2024 in American theaters, we hope it comes to our screens.
