The platform is rebooting on Netflix
Having had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in 2019, the Spanish film The platform had achieved colossal success on Netflix in March 2020. It was put online in full confinement, a period during which the streaming service saw a significant increase in its audience.
The film remained at the top of the film list for many weeks most viewed in the worldand sparked much discussion among viewers, who formulated various theories about the mysterious ending of the feature film.
Remember that the story takes place in a vertical prison where the inmates are distributed on several levels. At the center of each level is a food platform going down from floor to floor. Prisoners on the higher levels serve themselves first, often leaving leftovers or nothing for those on the lower levels.
The protagonist, Goreng (played by Ivan Massagué), wakes up on Level 48 with an older cellmate, Trimagasi (played by Zorion Eguileor). Through his interactions and observations, Goreng discovers the cruelties and injustices of the food distribution system, a dystopian mirror of the social inequalities of our world.
Four years after the release of the first film, Netflix has finally revealed the first trailer Platform 2as well as the release date: October 4, 2024.
What will La Plateforme 2 be about?
Also directed by Galder Gastelu-Urrutia, this second part will immerse us once again in the hell of prison and its platform. The first images revealed today by Netflix promise a more horrible film than the first, with its dose of hemoglobin and violence.
We will follow him two new inmates which will try to understand how the prison system works, who is responsible for it and, above all, how to overthrow it. Maybe we will finally have answers as to why and how.
