The Death of James Caan: His last film with former James Bond

What is the last film role of James Caan, who died on July 7, 2022, aged 82? The actor recently toured with Pierce Brosnan under the direction of Philip Noyce.

At the end of his career, among a few more sensible releases, in theaters and platforms, James Caan, who died on July 7 at the age of 82, collaborated twice with French filmmakers: Guillaume Caan for the thriller Blood Ties (2013). and Amanda Sters in the drama The Holy Land (2019).

Among the smaller plays is one still unpublished in France called Queen Bees (also known as The End), with Ellen Burstyn, Jane Curtin, Loretta Devine. This movie, released in June 2021 in the United States, tells the story of a woman who refuses to enter a nursing home. His life changes when he meets a group of ladies who can’t be counted, including an attractive widow played by James Caan.

The brand new film is yet to be dated in France and worldwide. James Caan definitely has one of the lead roles in Fast Charlie, directed by Philip Noyce (War Games, White Tranquility).

Charlie Swift (Pierce Brosnan) has worked for Stan, an elderly mob boss, as a handyman and hitman for twenty years. When a rival boss tries to destroy Stan and his entire team, Charlie can’t save his boss’s life. Now alone, Charlie will stop at nothing to avenge his friend and leave no one alive…

Fast Charlie is adapted from Victor Gischler’s book Gun Monkeys. In the casting, James Caan answers to former James Bond Pierce Brosnan and Morena Baccarin (Homeland). The Wrap confirms that James Caan was able to shoot all the scenes planned for this film.

Note that James Caan was supposed to appear in Francis Ford Coppola’s project Megalopolis, which the American filmmaker had been holding for many years, but before filming began, his role would have to be recast.

The story of Megalopolis takes place in New York, which is trying to rebuild itself after being destroyed by a cataclysm. A reconstruction by an architect who is trying to (re)build a small utopian city called “Cityworld” in the heart of New York…

According to IMDB, the actor has also been announced for Andre Gordon’s Acre Beyond the Rye, starring Lacy Chabert, and Tom Burruss’ Redemption, but neither of those films appears to have been cast yet.
