Zack Snyder Wants It “Violent” and “Sexy”
It’s a very particular phenomenon that director Zack Snyder invites us to discover. On Netflix, this has been achieved for the first time The Army of the Dead then its first two parts Rebel Moon. These, destroyed at the critical level, have known only one very relative success on the streaming platform when they were released in December and then in April 2024. But we already knew, at that time, that Zack Snyder had produced two other uncensored edits of violence and sexuality, and at longer lengths.
These two films Rebel Moon – Director’s Cut so here it comes August 2nd on Netflix, and so I am Rebel Moon: Daughter of Fire AND Rebel Moon: The Slasher in their “adult” version. A trailer has been revealed (video at the top of the article), and we actually see some of them blood gushing in tens of liters, nudity and violence. This surprising strategy by Netflix is to declare very early on that movies Rebel Moon they will have their ” very quicklySnyder Cut” – seems to want to reproduce the phenomenon of Snyder’s Cut of Justice League. This film released in 2021 was the revival of his film by Zack Snyder Justice League of 2017, which had been “overturned” by the handover of direction to Joss Whedon in full production. I had written the script, unfettered, as I would have done in my “normal” aesthetic—something very brutal, very sexy, violent, crazy, all the sliders maxed out—but in my conversations with Netflix, they asked, “Is there a way to go back to your original, subversive, R-rated version?” I said, “Sure, that would be great!” And they were like, “So you could do your ‘thing,’ and we’d have it as something else, as a separate piece of content.”
The R-rated version of the diptych Rebel Moon Will it be significantly better than the PG-13 version already released? Will the “sliders pushed all the way in” change anything and please audiences who were disappointed by the first version? Reply on August 2nd !
