Nell Mescal released her first EP, ‘Can I Miss It For A Minute?’, in May this year

Nell Mescal released his first EP, Can I Miss It For A Minute?in May of this year. In an interview with The Independent (via NME), the sister of Paul Mescal discussed allegations of nepotism amid his rising music career.

“I was already making music when Paul became famous”, he said Nell. “I don’t want it to sound like I’m bitter about it, because I understand that from an outsider’s perspective, you’re watching one person become famous and another person discover what they’re doing.”

Paul gained fame by starring in the adaptation of the book by Sally Rooney called Normal people. The BBC series premiered in 2020. While Nell left Ireland to live in London and try to win over a wider audience, Paul became a movie star and was even cast in Gladiator 2.

“Especially now with this EP, I hope anyone who’s thinking that’s the only reason I did it listens to it and realizes that I don’t want to be here just to have a TikTok moment or something,” he added. Nell. “I want to be doing this when I’m 70, until I can’t do it anymore.”

For Nellthe accusations of nepotism would make more sense if her brother were also in the music industry. She considered that the world of acting “is very separate”: “I don’t know if people realize how far apart music is from film. When I go to these events with him, I’m just a fly on the wall out there.”
