Communicator takes to the stage for the first time with ‘How did I end up here?’; sessions inaugurate the theater’s new schedule
THE Unimed Theater celebrates its 5th anniversary on August 22nd. To celebrate the date, the program has a new day and time. Now, the sessions also take place on Wednesdays, at 8 pm.
The person who inaugurates this new space is the communicator Thai de Melo. After becoming successful on social media talking about fashion, behavior and style, she debuts on stage with the show How did I end up here?.
Under the direction of Bruno Guida and production of Dani Angelottithe montage brings the communicator’s experiences and reflections in a comical and questioning way.
The show premiered on August 7th and runs until September 25th. In addition to the new sessions on Wednesdays, Unimed Theater continues with the traditional schedule, from Friday to Sunday. Starting August 30th, Marilia Gabriela and Theodore Cochrane take to the stage with Marília Gabriela’s Last Interview.
How did I end up here?
With an autofictional approach, the show How did I end up here? seeks to take the audience on a deep journey through the protagonist’s mind. On stage, the moments in which she encounters unexpected situations and questions the choices that led her there are explored.
I felt the desire to transpose the world of the internet to the theater without necessarily being didactic about the subject. I want to test this persona in another environment and nothing is more different from the internet than the theater. According to my mother, I said my first word when I was 10 months old, I said ‘water’, maybe that explains my thirst for communication that I will now test elsewhere”, explains Thai.
The plot follows the communicator, who begins the play in a reflective manner. Little by little, she transcends her own experiences and begins to question herself about universal themes that echo in contemporary society. Issues such as motherhood, marriage, career, trauma, the impact of the Internet and childhood memories are addressed.
It’s about how to deal with the expectations people have of us. What is the line that separates us from each other.”
The narrative is constructed in a comical way and allows viewers to identify with situations and twists and turns that life presents. At the same time, the show carries an emotional charge that resonates with universal experiences and makes the communicator’s story not only personal, but also popular.
The show invites the audience to reflect on the choices, adventures and challenges that mark each experience.

About the direction, Bruno Guida said that the play is the result of a mix of different professionals:
We are creating a joint language for the show. These are creators who often come from other universes, such as Anna Arietteart director, who is not exactly a set designer, although she has done scenery; Alexandre Herchcovitcha fashion genius who is not necessarily a theatrical costume designer; and Flavia Laferwho is a stylist. In addition, there are theater professionals such as Dan Maiaresponsible for the soundtrack, and Gabriel Malothrough the direction of movement. The combination of these professionals creates something unusual, with refined aesthetics and a slight flirtation with the aesthetics of buffoonery.”
Producer Dani Angelotti spoke about her desire to produce a play with Thai de Melo, who is making her debut in the theater world:
I think that increasingly, in all artistic languages, not only in the performing arts, thinking of new paths, attracting new audiences and dialoguing with other languages is a necessary path to be explored. Thai has power and will be a great revelation on stage”, he analyzes.
