After the worldwide success of the series I May Destroy Youthe award-winning actress Michaela Coel prepares to engage the public again, this time in First Day on Earth. The new ten-episode production made by HBO in partnership with the BBC promises to be one of the most innovative and exciting of 2025.

In First Day on EarthCoel will go beyond the lead role. She will also write and executive produce the series.

The plot follows Henri, a British novelist who is struggling with writer’s block and personal crisis. When the opportunity to work on a film in Ghana, his parents’ home country, arises, Henri sees the trip as a chance to reconnect with his roots.

However, upon arriving in the country, she discovers that neither the job nor the relationship with her father are what she expected. Production

The series features a top-notch crew, including Jesse Armstrongknown for his work in Successionand the producers Phil Clarke and Roberto Troni. First Day on Earth will also feature a collaboration with acclaimed production company A24.
