Pacific Rim : a film that deserved better
It’s been more than ten years since Guillermo del Toro unveiled the fantastic universe of Pacific Rim (2013). A film very inspired by Japanese culture, as it talks about by Kaijusthese giant Godzilla-like creatures. To deal with them, humanity created giant robots called the Jaegers. Enough to remind us of certain Japanese animation works such as Evangelion. Except that in Pacific Rim, to pilot these machines, two pilots must establish a mental connection. Instead, the studio has decided to develop a new series that will return to the origins, announced Expiration. A prequel, in the style of Dune: Prophecyalso produced by Legendary Entertainment. Eric Heisserer (Shadow and BonesBird Box) is responsible for the creation. The details surrounding it are minimal for the moment, but everything suggests that it will bea live action series. Which will be a real novelty since Netflix launched the animated series in 2021 Pacific Rim: The Black. We don’t know if the streaming platform will air the next show or if another service will.
