As Marvel fans demand the cut of Waititi’s Thor: Love And Thunder, Taika Waititi shares brutally honest views on the director’s cuts

Thor: love and thunder is a box office hit and many fans clearly love it. In fact, they love it so much that many want more. Taika Waititi said a previous cut of love and thunder it lasted more than four hours and now some fans are starting a campaign to see this version. However, there is at least one big name that isn’t interested in the “Waititi cut” and that’s Taika Waititi. He probably won’t come out of Director’s Cut Thor: love and thunder because he thinks the director’s cuts suck.

A lot has been done in recent years, especially among superhero movies like Justice League Yes suicide squad in the intention of the director when it comes to movies, there is the not unreasonable feeling that filmmakers must have the ability to see their vision on screen with as little interference as possible. But there is also an argument that directors are insane who sometimes need to be checked, and says Taka Waititi NME you tend to subscribe to this perspective. The manager explains …

I thought about the director’s cuts. I see the director cuts of many other directors. They stink. The director’s cuts are not good. Directors sometimes need to be checked and if I said ‘ah, do you want to see my director’s cut? It’s four thirty! Not good, at half past four. There are many tea breaks there, you don’t even have to take a break.

Over the years, there have been high-profile films in which directors and studios battle for the final editing of a film, such as David Lynch’s version Dunes . In some cases, we’ve seen the director finally release his view of the film in question, and sometimes that version has been objectively better. Ridley Scott is the king of the director’s cut and most people agree that the latest releases of Rewards for hunting or the extended version of Kingdom of Heaven they are far superior to the original versions. the recent a cup of The Godfather III it is another that appears to be considered a worthwhile endeavor .

Yet just as often, if not more often, directorial cuts end up adding little or nothing to the conversation. Taika Waititi himself says here that his four-hour version of Thor: love and thunder that’s not good and would include a lot of points you might skip, which is why they were removed in the first place. Waititi was also opposed to any extended version of Thor: Ragnarok . If Waititi actually made an extended version, it looks like he might consider adding something else, but it doesn’t look like it would add more than a few minutes to runtime. Waititi continues …

I’d say my court would probably have a few more lines in there. There may be some deleted scenes, but as I always say, one scene is deleted because it’s not good enough to be in the movie. I think the deleted scenes section on the DVD, not that they use them anymore, should just be a list of the scenes and no links, so you can’t click on them!

when Thor: love and thunder coming to Blu-ray and Disney + in a few months chances are we’ll have access to some deleted scenes and fans will be able to see some of what was cut. There are probably some good jokes in there, but in the end, they probably got in the way of the movie. The version you can see in theaters now is the version Taika Waititi wanted to release.
