The news comes a day after Feldstein announced in an Instagram post that he would be leaving the show on July 31, earlier than expected. Last month, the producers announced that he and Lynch would step down from their roles on September 25, rather than later in the year as originally expected.
In his post, Feldstein said the decision was made after the producers “decided to take the show in a different direction”, but did not elaborate.
“Playing Fanny Bryce on Broadway has been a lifelong dream of mine and it has been a joy and a true honor to do so these past few months,” she wrote. “When the producers decided to take the show in a different direction, I made the extremely difficult decision to leave earlier than expected.
