Bullet Train : Brad Pitt, an assassin like no other
Brad Pitt is one of those actors whose aura influences the roles. Putting this actor in a shoddy suit or having him play a clumsy character can increase the humorous effect tenfold. As in Burns after reading (2008), with this unlikely Brad Pitt look. Or in Bullet Train (2022)where the star appears with a helmet on the head and big glasses. Not forgetting the code name of his character: Ladybug. A combination that immediately makes the assassin he plays in the film likeable because he is difficult to take seriously. Even more so when we learn that he is extremely unlucky and that he would be responsible, despite himself, for the death of innocent people in each of his missions.
It is therefore with reluctance that he accepts a new mission, presented as a simple delivery of a suitcase, which he will have to collect on a train. Of course, things will not be that easy. From There are other murderers on this same train who either have a contract on this suitcase, or a desire to take revenge on Coccinelle. His journey between Tokyo and Morioka therefore promises to be deadly.
The presence of Brad Pitt is the first interest Bullet Train. The actor is particularly funny in his sloppy style that makes him look completely unprofessional. But the film also benefits from it. other famous facesincluding Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Joey King, Zazie Beetz, Hiroyuki Sanada and Sandra Bullock, who communicates remotely with Coccinelle. The action proposed by David Leitch (John Wick saga) It’s a bit messy at times, but overall it’s still enjoyable (see our review).
A success on all screens
When will it hit theaters in August 2022, Bullet Train had no trouble ensuring its profitability. Made on a budget of around $85 million, the feature film grossed nearly 240 million turnover worldwide. In France it had amassed more than 1.5 million spectators. And it is not only at the cinema that David Leitch’s film has attracted audiences. Two years after its release in theaters, Bullet Train was a hit on Prime Video. A hit that must have pleased Aaron Taylor-Johnson in particular, who gave it his all on set. In fact, the actor injured his hand during the filming of a fight sequence and even fainted. If the actor wasn’t thrilled at the time, he was able to console himself later by watching the beautiful soundtrack Bullet Train.
