Grammy Awards date, show venue in 2023

The Grammy Awards will return to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles (formerly known as the Staples Center) for the first time in three years and will air in February for the first time in four years. The 65th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

It will be the 20th show at the venue formerly known as the Staples Center, home to four Grammy Awards since 2000.

The 2003 and 2018 shows were held at Madison Square Garden in New York. The 2021 show, first performed amid the COVID-19 pandemic, was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, allowing for greater social distancing. The 2022 show was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The February 5th air date will bring the show back to February for the first time since 2019. The 2020 show has been pushed back to January 26th to avoid competing with the Oscars, which have been moved to the Grammys set for February 9th. The 2021 show was held on March 14, the 2022 show was held on April 3. The pandemic played the biggest role in determining the last two dates.

The vast majority of the Grammys have aired in February since they were launched in 1971. The show aired 38 times in February; nine times in March; four times in January; And once in April.

Nominations will be announced on Tuesday, November 15, eight days earlier than last year and five days earlier than in more than a decade.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS, home of the show since 1973. In addition, it will be broadcast live and on demand on Paramount+.

Here is a list of key dates for the 65th Grammy Awards:

Product eligibility period: October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022

Online application period: Monday, July 18 – Wednesday, August 31

First Round Voting: Thursday, October 13 – Sunday, October 23

Announcement of Nominations: Tuesday, November 15

Final round of voting: Wednesday, December 14, 2022 – Wednesday, January 4, 2023

Grammy Broadcast: Sunday, February 5, 2023

Voters will have 10 days to vote in the first round and three weeks in the second round. But accountants (Deloitte was for many years the academy’s vote-counting company) will have more time than that, just over a month, to count votes. On the other hand, voting for the Oscars ends five days before the broadcast. The advantage of voting later is that voting is more recent and modern. This does not reflect a decision that was blocked a month ago.

The Recording Academy has yet to announce who will host the show. Trevor Noah, the witty host of Comedy Central The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, presented the last two Grammy Awards. If re-elected, he would become the third comedian to present the Grammy Awards three or more times. Billy Crystal presented for three years (1987-89); Garry Shandling hosted four times in a five-year period between 1990 and 1994.

Details on specific Grammy Week events will be announced in the coming months. For more information about the Grammy voting season, click here. To access the full set of rules and guidelines for the 65th Grammy Awards, go here.

The announcement of key dates and times comes two days after the broadcast of the 64th Annual Grammy Awards was nominated for five Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Variety Special (live).

The show competes in this Oscar category; Tony Awards Delivery: Broadway is Back!; Pepsi Halftime Show at Super Bowl LVI with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent; And living in front of a studio audience: the facts of life and various touches.

The Grammys have been nominated eight times for Main Program Emmy Awards since 1977 (when the category was named Outstanding Achievement in Special Event Coverage), but never won.
