The Snedeker Family at the center of Conjuring 4?
The Warren dossier on the Snedeker family is one of Ed and Lorraine’s most famous cases, but… it was never addressed in the saga.
However, it has already been adapted to the cinema, in 2009, in the film The infestation in Connecticutwhich had also been translated into French as The last ritea title that resonates with “Last Rites”.
In fact, the official title of Evocation 4 echoes the last story of the Warrens (“last”) but can also mean, in the Catholic religion, “the last sacraments” which are given to the dying, to purify their souls before their arrival in the afterlife. However, the story of the Snedeker family takes place in a former funeral home, responsible for welcoming the deceased.
Moreover, this relationship is one of the last of the Warren couple. It happened in 1987, that is six years after the events of Conjuring 3. The chronology would then be respected. Also, in one of the photos taken on the film set, we see a hearse and the license plate matches those of the state of Connecticut in the 1980s :
A chilling affair

In the basement there are still objects related to ancient funeral services, such as a coffin elevator, embalming equipment and photos of the deceased. Soon the family begins reporting strange and disturbing events.
These phenomena include footsteps, whispered voices, moving shadows, and an oppressive atmosphere that sets in in the house. The eldest son, Phillip, appears to be the most affected. He says he sees frightening apparitionsincluding sinister figures with distorted faces. His behavior changes, becoming increasingly violent and unpredictable, to the point of having to be temporarily admitted to a psychiatric institution.
Other family members are not spared: they report being attacked by invisible forces, sometimes feeling physically affected, scratched or shaken during their sleep. Carmen Snedeker, the mother, even claims to have seen crosses on the walls overturn by themselves and to have felt heavy and malevolent presences throughout the house.
That’s when the family called Ed and Lorraine Warren, famous for their work on disturbing cases. After their arrival, Lorraine, who describes herself as a medium, immediately claims to feel negative presences in the house.
The Warrens wrap it up the house is haunted by the troubled spirits of the deceased who were prepared in the funeral home. They also believe that the former owners engaged in occult practices that attracted malicious entities.
According to the Warrens, the most violent phenomena are due to a demonic presence that specifically attacks the Snedeker family. To deal with this situation, the Warrens organize several prayer sessions and perform an exorcism to rid the house of evil spirits.
