The rest of the franchise Kingsman stay waiting
Kingsman: Secret Service remains one of the most popular features in Matthew Vaughn’s filmography. Presented in 2014, it presents the story ofan elite British intelligence unit. After the death of one of their own, its members are looking for a young recruit. Eggsy, a young man of modest origins, is then chosen. In his first mission he will have to face a rich criminal who threatens the world’s population.
Thanks to his entertaining approach to spy films, Kingsman made a strong impression upon its release. He threw a franchisewith a second work, The Golden Circlereleased in 2017. A prequel, The King’s Man: First Missionwas then presented in 2021. But since then, fans are forced to be patient waiting for news on the future of the franchise. And the latest information on the topic it won’t reassure them.
No new films scheduled anytime soon
During a recent interview with The Hollywood journalistSteve Asbell was asked about the future of the saga Kingsman. And the head of 20th Century Studios shared disappointing news about future plans for the franchise: “We have no plans to do them in the near future.”
Visibly, we will therefore have to wait several years before seeing Kingman 3. Last January, at the microphone of ColliderMatthew Vaughn, however, had explained that he would have liked to direct it before Colin Firth and even Taron Egerton became too old. He also assured it the script was being written. And that he knew how the film began and ended.
More years of waiting Kingman 3 and the continuation of First mission ?
Kingman 3which should conclude the narrative arc on the relationship between the characters of Eggsy and Harry, is therefore not for the immediate future. The same goes for the rest The King’s Man: First Mission. In October 2023, in another interview with ColliderMatthew Vaughn revealed it anyway the script for this sequel has been written.
He had explained it the rise of Hitler would be at the center of this new story. And in particular the way in which the latter was supported by the English aristocracy. The writer and director also explained that he does not yet know if it is this project it would take the form of a film or series. Given Steve Asbell’s comments, we’re obviously no closer to knowing…
