Friends since before they became successful in Hollywood, Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson met in the play Mighty Gents
Two of the greatest actors in the history of Hollywood, Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson are personal friends – so much so that washington he thanked his professional colleague for being like “my children’s uncle.” Furthermore, Jackson was described as “a bad son of a bitch.”
washington spoke about his friend when presenting a tribute that Jackson received at a charity event for The Museum of Modern Art in New York last Wednesday, 23. “Lord, forgive me, Samuel Jackson is a bad son of a bitch,” he said (via NME).
He then described the artist as “great actor, great friend,” but, “most importantly, he’s family to me. He’s my children’s uncle.” Then, Denzel Washington commented how Zoedaughter of Samuel L. Jacksonis like a “daughter” to him.
It is worth remembering how the duo worked together for the first time in More and Better Bluesfilm directed by Spike Lee and released in August 1990 in the United States. However, they met years before, when they acted in the play Mighty Gents.
I was a substitute, so I watched him. They fired the guy I was replacing after opening night, and I took over. I remember him giving me the confidence to do the work. He doesn’t know it until tonight.
