Sandrine Kiberlain is the first international star in Sarah Bernhardt’s trailer

Guillaume Nicloux presents Sarah Bernhardt

Born on October 22, 1844 in Paris, Sarah Bernhardt was one of the leading actresses, painters and sculptors of the 19th and early 20th centuries. An important celebrity in France, but also abroad. She is also the first actress to travel to five continents on tour. In this way, it is considered to be the first international starand was even described as a “sacred monster” by Jean Cocteau. An expression often used since then.

However, Sarah Bernhardt’s name shouldn’t speak to most people today. Guillaume Nicloux will perhaps correct this problem with his new film Sarah Bernhardt, The Divine. The director of The Little One (2023) offered to Sandrine Kiberlain the main role, and put Laurent Lafitte, Pauline Étienne, Amira Casar and Laurent Stocker at his side. The film is revealed with a trailer (video on the front page of the article) which shows the character at times eccentric, at times demanding of his colleagues, but also aware of his popularity and determined to be perceived as a star.

We’ll see if Guillaume Nicloux will be able to find the right balance so as not to fall into too fluid a portrait. To be sure, go to the rooms December 18th to discover Sarah Bernhardt, The Divine.
