Nobody, or almost nobody, expected it: Artus’s first film as director, Something morethrew all the counters into panic and became the the biggest hit of the year at the French box office.
With nearly 11 million viewers at the time of writing, the comedy has beaten the big giants, that they are Vice versa 2AND The Count of Monte Cristo. Furthermore, it has become the 25th greatest hit of all time in France.
The plot follows two thieves, father and son, who find themselves in trouble after yet another robbery. To escape the authorities, they find refuge an unexpected place : a summer camp for young adults with disabilities.
Under the identity of a false resident and his educator, they are faced with a situation beyond their means. During their stay, they discover the human richness and sincerity of the residents, which leads them to gradually change their perspective. Between misunderstandings and life lessons, this unlikely immersion upsets their preconceptions and makes them face their own defects
An important first film for Artus
Artus, known for his offbeat humor and sense of derision, creates a comedy here that goes beyond his usual projects.
