They release a new album by Mercedes Sosa, 50 years after her debut in New York

It’s a treasure. And, as such, there is no doubt that it is worth discovering. What are we talking about? From the premiere of the album “Mercedes Sosa in New York, 1974”.

A true gem that will be previewed on digital platforms, as well as in physical CD and LP formats, for Relive La Negra’s Historic Concert at Manhattan’s Iconic City Hallwhich debuted in the American city 50 years ago.

The material includes not only the complete album with original audio from this recital, but also previously unpublished photos and some of the concert footage.

The unforgettable Mercedes, accompanied by the talented guitarist from Mendoza Santiago “Pepete” Bértiz, performed some of the most emblematic songs of his repertoire, reflecting one of the best moments of his career, marked by a strong political and humanist commitment.

At this concert in February 1974, Mercedes sang in front of a full theater and, with bass drum and arrangements by Bertiz, performed classic works by composers such as Atahualpa Yupanqui, Violeta Parra, Víctor Jara and Horacio Guarany, among others.

Some of the most emblematic songs of this recital, such as “Thank you to life”, “Si se Calla el Cantor”, “Canción con Todos”, “Al Jardín de la República”, “Los Hermanos” and “I remember you Amanda”, have become anthems of Latin American music.

The release also includes a documentary which accompanies the album, which details the process of recovering the tapes and previously unreleased audiovisual material.

In this documentary, Leading Argentinian artists such as Abel Pintos, Soledad, Teresa Parodi and Víctor Heredia participate, as well as Mercedes’ granddaughter, Araceli Matus.and the organizers of his visit to the United States, Pedro Pujó and Jorge Pardo, author of the emblematic photographs of the concert.

This launch is a unique opportunity for Mercedes Sosa fans to enjoy it again.
