Ricky Martin Restraining Order Case Filed

A court in Puerto Rico has “filed” a restraining order against star Ricky Martin, meaning the case is closed, a court official said on Thursday.

“The petitioner voluntarily withdrew the complaint; Therefore, the case is closed and no further proceedings are required,” a spokesperson, who was not authorized to be named under court rules, told the Associated Press.

A judge issued a restraining order against the Puerto Rican singer in early July. The warrant was filed under Puerto Rico’s Domestic Violence Act, but police did not provide additional details, including who requested the warrant.

on appeal the hollywood reporterMartín’s legal team, Joaquín Montserrat Matianzo, Carmelo Dávila and Harry Massanet Pastrana, said: “As we had hoped, the court did not extend the temporary protection order.”

He added that “the request came from the accused requesting the closure of the case. This has never been anything but a troubled individual making false accusations with absolutely nothing to back them up. We are pleased that our client has seen justice and is now able to move forward with his life and career. “

Martin recently tweeted that the order was based on “completely false” accusations and that he would approach the process “with the responsibility that characterizes me.”

A hearing was scheduled for Thursday, but it was held behind closed doors and the parties attended virtually. Several media and camera reporters were waiting outside the courthouse.
