While the fourth season of Strange things brought one of the greatest evils kids have ever faced with Vecna, it also included introducing one of the show’s most beloved characters: Eddie Munson. Played by British actor Joseph Quinn, Eddie took the boys under his wing at school and got involved in their situation upside down. Now Quinn reveals why playing Eddie sometimes made him feel like a “sociopath”.
Although the actor was British, his character was American, so Quinn had to have a perfect command of his American accent. Speaking on the podcast Off the menu with Ed Gamble and James AcasterQuinn admitted that when he tried to perfect his accent, he went down the rabbit hole:
You feel like a sociopath. After a while, I was so far down the rabbit hole that I sometimes thought, ‘Am I okay? Do you like? Do you like what I do? I was talking to Joe Keery, and at one point he was so into it … and he was like, ‘Dude, I can’t save you, but I promise you everything will be fine.
Fortunately, Joseph Quinn didn’t care, because Eddie Munson quickly became a fan favorite and no one complained about his accent. Who would have guessed that his portrait painter was on the other side of the pond instead of Indiana?
Unfortunately, due to Eddie’s sacrifice to the Upside Down in the season finale, he was doomed not to make it to the fifth and final season safely. Joseph Quinn won’t have to worry about perfecting an American accent, however, which may be the only benefit of his character’s death.
Earlier this month, after the finale, Quinn told Gossipify how proud he was to be a part of it Strange things and that he liked the dynamics on set. Even though Eddie may be dead, I hope there is a chance to see him one last time soon. Strange things But at least if he doesn’t come back, Eddie will live forever and not just inside strange things 4, but on TikTok. It’s something the actor recently admitted to be “surreal” to him.
Meanwhile, Joseph Quinn is receiving all the accolades for his performance in Strange things, and Eddie wasn’t just a hit with fans. After Eddie lured a demo-bats band with a rooftop solo performance of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”, the Grammy-winning band responded by praising the show for having “such a pivotal scene. Built around it”.
Although it is likely that Joseph Quinn is not present strange things 5there are still many projects where you can get it if you like the Strange things actor. And on top of that, as a featured character in season 4, I hope Eddie’s death (which was “rare” for the actor’s film) is not taken lightly in the fifth and final season. For now, you can experience Eddie’s Crazy Ride with the Season 4 stream on Netflix.
