The actress competed for the award against Nicole Kidman, Tilda Swinton, Pamela Anderson, Kate Winslet and Angelina Jolie.
The last time Brazil had secured the Golden Globe was in 1999, when Central Brazil (1998) won the award for Best Foreign Film. In the same year, Fernanda Montenegro competed for the Best Actress category, but lost to Cate Blanchett.
What is the story of I’m Still Here?
Based on the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, I’m Still Hereis set in Rio de Janeiro, in the early 1970s, amid the military dictatorship, and tells the story of Eunicemother of five children, who becomes involved in an endless search for the truth after her husband, Rubensbe taken away by undercover police officers and disappear.
