Sevena cult film by David Fincher
David Fincher is today considered one of the most gifted directors of his generation. He achieved this status thanks to what was only his second feature film. Why Seven it left no one indifferent upon its release in 1995. The final sequence of Seven it’s simply unforgettable. Somerset discovers this to his horror Mills’ wife’s head in a box. For years, rumors have circulated that the film’s production was fabricated a replica of Gwyneth Paltrow’s head to put it in the box while shooting. Thirty years after the film’s release, David Fincher has finally set the record straight about this entry during an interview with Entertainment weekly :
No, that’s absolutely ridiculous. I think we had a weighted bag that weighed a little over three kilos. We had done some research to find out how much Gwyneth’s head would weigh in relation to the weight of her entire body. So we had an idea of how much it would weigh and I think we put a weight in the box. And they added a wig to it, and I think there was blood on it, so the hair in the wig would stick. I think Morgan opened 16 or 17 of these boxes.
The rumor regarding the creation of a replica of Gwyneth Paltrow’s head was therefore unfounded. In his own words, David Fincher simply mattered the talent of Morgan Freeman to give that power to the scene: “As I always say, you don’t need to see what’s in the box when you have Morgan Freeman. »
A remastered 4K version will be available soon
If you want to (re)watch Sevenyou will soon be able to find out in a new version. Because David Fincher himself recently supervised a remaster of the film in 4K. The images have thus been improved and some errors corrected. This SteelBook 4K version will go on sale this Wednesday January 8th In France.
