Kid Cudi leaves the stage at Rolling Loud Miami, Kanye West makes surprise appearance with Lil Durk

Kid Cudi ran offstage during his performance at Rolling Loud Miami on Friday (July 22) after being repeatedly hit by objects thrown from the crowd.

The “Day ‘N’ Nite” rapper, who replaced Kanye West at the last minute, was at a late-night performance when he stopped the show after what appeared to be a bottle of water in his face. A visibly shaken Cudi gave the audience one last warning before leaving the stage.

“Oh, I’m leaving this stage, if everybody throws one more thing here, I’m leaving, I’m leaving now,” said the rapper and actor sternly. “Throw one more thing on that stage and I’m gone, I’m not playing. I’m not kidding, you’re going to ruin everything for everyone. I will if anything else happens to me, if I see one more thing on this stage, I will. Do not fight with me

Of course, just as Cudi was done scolding the rowdy crowd, another bottle was thrown onto the stage and the rapper made good on his promise and walked away.

Billboard reached out to representatives for Cudi and Rolling Loud for comment.

Around the same time Cudi finished his set, Lil Durk was performing on another stage at Rolling Loud, where West, now known by the name Ye, made a surprise appearance. During his brief appearance, the superstar rapper and fashion mogul sang his hit “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1” from his 2016 album The Life of Pablo. Ye’s cameo was particularly shocking after he canceled his performance at the Miami festival a week ago. She was replaced by Cudi, whom he dated earlier this year. In February, Ye announced on social media that Cudi would not be appearing on her album Donda 2 due to her friendship with rapper Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend Pete Davidson. Cudi, who last collaborated with Ye on 2021’s Donda, left a scathing comment directly on Ye’s Instagram post, saying, “Too bad I don’t want to be on your album ugh – dinosaur lol.” He added: “Everyone knows I’ve been the best on your album since I met you. I’m praying for you brother.”

Following Ye’s cancellation from Rolling Loud, festival co-founders Tariq Sheriff and Matt Zingler shared the following statement: “We expected Ye to headline Rolling Loud Miami 2022,” the co-founders said. “We worked with him and his team for months at the construction site. Unfortunately, Yeh has decided that he will not be performing again. This is the first time a headliner has interrupted our show and while we don’t take it lightly, we wish him the best. We look forward to welcoming Kid Cudi headlining to Miami and can’t wait to see what he has in store.”
