(2022), by director Jordan Peele, Keke Palmer there were already starring productions aimed at children and young people, such as Trial by Fire: A Life Story (2006) and True Jackson (2008). In an interview with The Cutthe actress reflected on her time in the entertainment industry and revealed that she didn’t always feel like a star.
She talked about how she felt ignored while colleagues who did similar work to hers received more attention. “I wasn’t necessarily in the same conversations as Victoria Justice or Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus back then,” she said. “It was a lot of ‘This is the black program’ or ‘This is Keke Palmerthe black girl on the network.’”
“There is a loss of innocence that comes with the knowledge that you are treated differently than I had accepted a long time ago,” reflected the Palmerwho was 15 years old at the time. She later added about how she feels now: “I don’t compare myself to anyone. But I definitely don’t compare myself to any white person.”
Recently Palmer starred One of Them Days (2025) alongside SZAa feature film in which she also played the role of executive producer. “I was more than just an actress playing the role. I really cared about the project as a whole,” she said of the project.
