Leave me your hand: great popular success
Release in November 2006, Lend me your hand It is a French romantic comedy directed by Eric Larigau and transported by Alain Chabat and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
The film tells the story of Luis, a 43 -year -old bachelor happy to be, who works like a nose with a creator of perfumes. However, his mother and five sisters, tired of pampering him, decide that it is time for him to get married. To escape the incessant pressure of his family, Luis designs a plan : He will pay Emma, the sister of her best friend, so that she looks like her girlfriend and that she “leaves” the wedding day.
The plan is that his family leaves him alone after this simulated break. But this perfect plan will be upset by the perfect understanding between Emma and Luis’s family. For fear that his family never recover from this pause, Luis asks Emma to be hated by his mother and sisters …
And to achieve this, false lovers are not short of ideas, not even the most absurd, as simulating a BDSM relationship to shock Luis’ mother. Exhilarating sequences in which Charlotte Gainsbourg excels in a comic register to which he had accustomed us little and who worried her before filming.
“I wondered if we had to play differently”
In Lend me your handWe really rediscover the talents of the actress of Charlotte Gainsbourg, who gives himself to heart in a pure comedy. During an interview with our colleagues ofAllociné When the film was released, the latter said because he was worried before starting the film:
I was worried at the beginning before I turned around because, as I saw that it was a frank comedy that were valves, replicas in which you really felt who was there to make people laugh, I wondered if he had to play differently, if I had to have to have worry about the rhythm etc. So they were questions I asked Eric and Alain before filming, and they simply reassured me saying that I could have played as I wanted and that I didn’t have to worry. And I think the rhythm derives from the scenes, it is not a play rhythm, not something we have to position and comes naturally.
As for the scenes in which he said rudeness, the latter had confided that he had adored them, because “he loved rudeness”.
