Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Namor will not be the King of Atlantis in the movie

In the trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever we saw the long-awaited for the first time Namor played by Tenoch Huerta.

There was a lot of curiosity about seeing the live-action incarnation of the character and what differences it would show compared to its print counterpart. The design of Namor appears classic and modern at the same time, however in the last few hours some details have appeared that allow us to get a deeper idea.

One of them is particularly interesting. Thanks to the action figure description of the character belonging to Hasbro’s Marvel Legends series, we learn that he is the leader of a civilization called Talocanand no Atlantis as we expected. the description reads:

The leader of Talocan, an ancient civilization hidden in the depths of the ocean, will not stop protecting his people”.

You can see the original post with description below:

In Marvel comics, the underwater civilization is home Namor is known as Atlantis. However since DC’s cinematic universe has already used this moniker for him Aquaman interpreted by Jason Momoait’s easy to understand why Marvel Studios tried to distance themselves from it.

The name “TalocanIt’s also not intentional. The character concepts show in fact a strong reference to Aztec culture, and beyond Talocan comes from the Aztec legend of Tlālōcān, a heavenly kingdom traditionally ruled by the rain god Tlālōc and his wife, the water goddess Chalchiuhtlicue. We’ll see what other ways the film pays homage to the lost civilization of Central America.

Another interesting element has to do with the appearance of the inhabitants Talocan. Fans noticed that they were showing bluish skin, unlike their leader. This is explained by the fact that Namor both half-human, a tradition that will apparently be respected in the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well.

You can read the new official synopsis of the movie below:

According to some plot rumors that have surfaced in recent months, the film deals with the “intertwined history” between the country of Wakanda and the lost city of what we thought it was called Atlantis, two civilizations bound together by a long conflict and isolation from the outside world. This hypothesis has been further confirmed with the alleged complete plot of the film released online in recent days.
