According to an exclusive TermDavid Krumholtz will reprise the role of Bernard the Elf in the Disney + series. Bernard was introduced in 1994 Santa Claus film in 1994 and the actor reprized the role in the 2002 sequel. However, he was absent from the third film and in 2021 Krumholtz revealed that he was originally supposed to appear. But in the end, he felt the character was “devalued,” which led to him leaving.
The next series will see Scott turn 65 and come to terms with the fact that he can’t be Santa forever, so he sets out to find a suitable successor to carry on the legacy. Santa Claus will also feature the familiar face of Elizabeth Mitchell, reprising the role of Carol / Mrs. Clause.
I’m very interested to see what Bernard does after all these years and if the producers explain his absence in the last film. However, given that David Krumholtz has decided to return after stepping down from this project, it’s a safe bet that his character will play a major role this time around. Now all we need is for Spencer Breslin to return as Curtis to complete Santa’s elf brain.
